Difference between muting and removing audio on a WMV video?

I muted the audio on a video. What does this mean? Is this the same thing as removing the audio? If i send this video to someone, will they be able to hear the volume? Or will they be able to get it to play the audio some how? Just confused. If they will be able to hear it, can anyone tell me how to get it completely removed?
