Why does DVDFlick take forever to encode?

I tried to create a DVD yesterday(Inception). It took 13 hours & 46 mins for the overall process to finish creating the DVD. I cleaned my computer with CCleaner, defragmented, used Disk Cleanup and also used Glarysoft Disk Speedup, and scanned my computer for viruses before the creating the DVD. What other free programs can I use to create Video_TS folders out of original video files (wmv, avi, mp4 etc.) & what can I do to make DVDFlick encode faster!
