Is ffdshow necessary for Windows Movie Maker?

I made a movie on Windows Movie Maker using .wmv videos. It is saved as a project. If I uninstall ffdshow (the videos will stay in the same place under the same name) will I still be able to edit and publish this movie with WMM? Or will removing ffdshow mean I can no longer play these files with WMM?
